#ElectBroadly Newsletter (05.06.20)
genEquality is thrilled to announce that it has joined a coalition of organizations that are mobilizing a grassroots letter-writing effort to amplify civic engagement and increase voter turnout across the United States.
The initiative is The Big Send, a massive letter-writing campaign aimed at reaching 10 million voters around the country by November 2020.
Of course, keeping true to our #ElectBroadly values, our letter-writing focus is going to be on encouraging voters to vote and to support women and people of color running for elected office, so that we increase diversity and gender parity in our government.
While we’re all social distancing, letter writing is the most effective action anyone can take from anywhere to reach voters in the Super States. We're focusing on letter-writing now; we'll be mailing them - a.k.a. doing a big send - in October, right before it’s time to vote.
The positive impact of our collective letter-writing effort could be felt for years to come. We believe that our democracy is at its best when everyone participates, and we want to see all levels of our government - local, state, and federal - truly reflect the diversity of America, particularly in terms of gender parity. In 2018, we made history in the United States by electing an unprecedented number of women to Congress; let's make history in 2020, too!
Join us so we can ensure that we have a government that looks like us and represents us fully. Let's change the face of our government together.
