Elect Broadly
What is Elect Broadly?
Elect Broadly is a civic engagement effort focused on citizenship and representation.
It enables engaged citizens to reach out to unregistered and registered voters, and encourage them to register and/or vote through targeted letter-writing campaigns.
Do you want to see us get to gender parity at all levels of government?
How Can I Get Involved?
You can adopt voters and write letters that strengthen our democracy!
We partner with Vote Forward, a tech-enabled platform for voter engagement through letter-writing. As an organization, genEquality aims to promote values that are aligned with supporting women and underrepresented minorities who are running for elected office. The United States has a diverse, multi-ethnic society…and we believe that our democracy should be fully reflective of our society.
We want to see all levels of our government reflect the diversity of America, particularly in terms of gender parity.
Elect Broadly’s History and Impact
Longtime community members will remember that in 2020, genEquality was part of The Big Send, a coalition of organizations led by the folks at Vote Forward to mobilize voters in swing states through letter-writing. The Big Send’s efforts weren’t done on November 3, 2020; that’s when the data analysis process began.
The analysis has been peer-reviewed and the results are out. It turns out that the 17.6 million letters sent by volunteers mobilized by The Big Send translated to about 126,000 votes in 21 states.
This means that all the letters written by The Big Send volunteers boosted targeted voters’ turnout by 0.8 percentage points. In a nation in which most elections are decided by the slimmest of margins, that’s huge! Eight states’ outcomes in last year’s presidential race came down to 5 percentage points or less. The closest, Georgia, came down to 11,779 votes, or a margin of just 0.2 percentage points. So, if you’re looking for a way to continue supporting and strengthening democracy from the safety of your own home - sign up to join us!
You can “adopt” voters and do your part to strengthen our democracy!
genEquality is part of a massive letter-writing campaign, The Big Send, which aims to reach 10 million voters by November. We’re writing and stockpiling “Please Vote!” letters that will be sent in late October, starting now. Help us reach that goal!!
