#ElectBroadly Newsletter (08.21.19)
One year ago, many primary races for elected office were underway and ultimately won by a record number of women, up and down the ballot.
Our "Elect Broadly" nudges and action campaigns are aimed at a higher ideal. Government is at its best when it is truly representative of the people, both in its makeup, its ideals, and its policies. By donating, volunteering, and voting, we can change the face of government.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union conducts an annual ranking of countries by gender parity in political representation. In 2018, the U.S. stood at 103 out of of 193 countries.
As of February 1, 2019 the U.S. ranks 76 of 193 - which places the U.S. behind Iraq, Sudan, and Somalia - among many others.
Everything that we collectively put into the 2018 elections was well worth it; notably, we saw some historic firsts and gains. Yet, this is no time to rest on our laurels. We still have more work to do to reach gender parity in political representation in the United States.
Our Elect Broadly efforts continue!
